The number of people who used the Alpena County Regional Airport to travel for spring break added a needed boost to the airport’s enplanement numbers.

Airport Manager Steve Smigelski said in a Monday press release that in April, 775 paying passengers used the airport for travel. He said that exceeded the 648 total for April of last year.

So far, the airport has amassed 2,783 enplanements in 2024.

If, at the end of the year, the airport reaches 10,000 paying passengers, the airport will receive a $1 million subsidy from the federal government.
