Alpena ties with Saginaw Heritage

The Alpena High School girls soccer team started out the season on Thursday with a 2-2 tie against Saginaw Heritage on the road.

The girls played a hard-fought game, coach Gregg Supiran said, with great overall play from everyone.

The girls played tough defensively, denying many of Saginaw’s opportunities.

Goalkeeper Taylor Parker made a number of saves with an important one with a few minutes remaining.

Offensively, the team had a number of goal-scoring opportunities, with a number of those starting with the back line and good build up in the midfield. Attacking players worked well with one another, leading to our two goals from Reese Wiesniewski.

ALPENA TENNIS LOSES TO BOYNE CITY

The Alpena High School girls tennis team lost its first game to Boyne City on Friday 7-1 at the APlex.

Coach Charlie Giordano called it a good first match for the girls, with “lots of positives seen on the court.”
