Postseason games continue
Hillman’s boys’ basketball is cruising through the postseason, playing in the MHSAA Division IV, Regional Semifinal against Bellaire in Bellaire tonight at 7 p.m. If they win, they’ll move on to a Regional Final game on Thursday.
Also tonight, Onaway plays St. Ignace at Inland Lakes in the Regional Semifinal at 7 p.m. The winner of that game will also move forward to another Regional Final game on Thursday.
Last week, Alpena’s boys’ basketball team was knocked out of the playoffs on Monday by Petoskey with a final score of 56-30. Alcona was defeated by Roscommon on Friday, finishing the game at 64-51. On Monday, Rogers City lost a close game to North Michigan Christian Academy, with the final score of 48-44. Hillman knocked out Posen on Friday, 65-45. Atlanta also wrapped up on Monday, losing to Hale 60-17.
Alpena’s hockey team passed by Essexville Garber, 6-2, and Gladwin, 8-3, making it to the quarterfinals, unfortunately losing to Traverse City St. Francis on Saturday, 5-1.
For girls’ basketball, district games started yesterday with Alcona defeating Fairview, 51-15, and Posen played Atlanta. Alcona will move on to play Hillman and the Posen/Atlanta winner will play Mio tomorrow, both in Hillman. The district championship game will be played between the winner of those games on Friday in Hillman at 7 p.m. Onaway also played yesterday against Alanson in Onaway.
Alpena’s girls’ basketball will start districts tomorrow in Alpena against Gaylord at 6 p.m.
District Championship games will be held in various locations on Friday.
Regionals kick off on Monday where Hillman girls’ basketball will play in the Division IV Regional Semifinal against Gaylord St. Mary. Onaway will also play in a Regional Semifinal game against Mackinaw City on Monday.
Alpena Community College men’s basketball is also starting its postseason schedule, playing Muskegon Community College at 7 p.m. tonight in Alpena. It is ACC’s first time hosting a postseason game in 25 years.
