Bergman promotes federal small business loans

Jack Bergman

ALPENA — As Michigan continues to face an unseasonably snowless winter, U.S. Rep. Jack Bergman, R-Watersmeet, urges small businesses impacted by a lack of snow to apply for federal loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration.

Federal Economic Injury Disaster Loans are available because of ongoing federal drought declarations affecting 42 Michigan counties.

Those counties include Alcona, Alpena, Montmorency, and Presque Isle counties in Northeast Michigan.

Bergman is working with Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and other elected officials in the state to get the word out about the program.

“It’s all hands on deck to ensure our small businesses affected by the unseasonable lack of snow across the First District are able to make it through this tough winter,” Bergman said in a press release Wednesday. “Working together with the Governor, business owners, and local leaders, we will continue to take every step possible to extend necessary resources and assistance to help our communities thrive through this unprecedented winter.”
