The Alpena Township Board of Trustees will host a special meeting and budget workshop at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the township office building, 4385 U.S.-23 N.

The trustees will kick off the meeting by going into closed session to discuss its ongoing court battle with Alpena over water and sewer rates paid by the township to the city.

The trustees will also consider a request for wage increases for election workers, financing options for a new pumper tanker truck for the township Fire Department, and building code changes.

The township budget runs from April 1 through March 31.
