Spring sports are upon us with Alpena Community College baseball and softball kicking things off last week and local high school schedules to begin in April.

On Tuesday, the ACC baseball team finished their spring trip with a doubleheader sweep over the Siena Heights JV team, winning 18-10 and 7-4. ACC finished the trip with a 3-4 record.

Matt Thompson had five hits on the day, including two doubles and a home run, driving in seven runs. Brett Moroschan also had five hits, including three doubles. Nate Koster and Kaleb Blaskowski each had three hits. Evan Fairbanks singled, tripled, and had four RBIs. Nik Tulgestka picked up the win in game one, striking out four in four innings. Brock Wing won game two, with eight strikeouts in four innings. Luke Gifford threw two innings of scoreless relief.

The team continues this weekend as they play at Alma College JV at 12 and 2 p.m. on Saturday.
