Tucker Bright and Avery Dubey put their names in record books with 3-point shooting careers records

ALPENA -- Two four-year varsity basketball starters, two all-time broken three-point records.
In their senior seasons, Tucker Bright and Avery Dubey have written their names in the record books for the two most impressive three-point shooting careers in Alpena High School history.
Recently, on Jan. 5, Bright became the first player to eclipse a three-point record as he passed Tyler Pintar, who finished with 134 threes over his career.
"Shooting comes with time, and (Bright) has been in this gym since he was a little kid. Ever since I can remember, (Bright) has been an incredible shooter and just someone who has always been able to make the deep shot," Alpena coach John Pintar said. "It's incredible what he's done over his past four years here, and his ability to adapt a quick release and shoot the ball as efficiently as he has is amazing."
In the game that Bright broke it, the Wildcats took on Cadillac High School, where he finished with 20 points, knocking down four three-point shots.
Bright has been incredibly hot all season from three, shooting 45.2% and 60% over his past five games.
While Bright's numbers have heavily accumulated over his four-year career, his final two years have been impeccable in scoring, where he has led the team both seasons.
After graduating most of their players in 2021, Bright stepped straight up to the occasion and took on the role of the team's captain.
Despite serving four whole years for Alpena's varsity squad, much of his first year was cut short due to fewer games scheduled because of COVID-19.
Bright will add to his 160 career three-point record as his final year continues before graduating in 2024.
"I'm really proud of myself for accomplishing this feat and really happy to be able to leave my name in the record books," Bright said.
Besides Bright's accomplishments, Alpena's star forward, Avery Dubey, has also done incredible things for the girls' varsity team.
While the girl's three-point record was lower at 84 threes over a career, Dubey entered the season with a great chance to break it.
Like Bright, Dubey joined the varsity team as a freshman and has always been dominant from beyond the arc.
On one of the most historic nights in Alpena basketball history, Dubey shattered the career three-point record and tied the single-game record of threes in a game.
Taking on Inland Lakes on Jan. 22, Dubey scored seven three-point shots and finished with 24 points overall.
"(Dubey) has been in the gym with me, working on how to shoot a basketball since she was three. She always used to get mad at me for not letting her shoot deep shots, and it seems like it paid off in the long run," Alpena's coach and Dubey's mom, Laura Dubey, said. "I always wanted her to get the correct form, and seeing the player she has turned into makes me super proud."
Dubey's recent hot streak has led the Wildcats to a six-game win streak just before falling to the undefeated Traverse City Central Trojans on Tuesday night.
With seven games remaining on the schedule and whatever is to come during the playoffs, Dubey will add to her 90-plus total threes, hoping to establish a record that will stand for many years.
"Breaking the record was such a cool opportunity, and I would really just like to thank Coach Andrews for giving me a shot when I was a freshman and Coach Dubey for always giving me the green light," Dubey said.
