ALPENA --The Parks and Recreation Committee receives a new member as the Alpena Personnel Committee appoints Dave Guthrie to fill in the vacant Alpena County Parks and Recreation Commission position on Tuesday.
Guthrie was interviewed for the position by the Alpena Personnel Committee on Tuesday.
During his interview, Guthrie presented the board with a prepared statement going over his experience and qualifications in which he mentioned his initial employment with the Parks and Recreations Commission back in 2017, including his involvement in a successful grant application.
"When I came on (to the Park and Recreation Commissions) in 2017, I was the Beaver Lake point person," said Guthrie. "I did not mention that I did prepare the grant application for the Beaver Lake bathhouse edition that went to youth and rec and we were successful."
Guthrie was appointed by the Personnel Committee following the completion of his interview. As a member of the Parks and Recreation Committee, Guthrie will be responsible for overseeing, maintaining, supervising, and handling complaints in regard to the parks in Alpena County.
According to Personnel Committee board member Brenda Fournier, the committee expects Guthrie to continue to do good work for the Parks and Recreations Committee moving forward.
"Dave had set in this position before," said Fournier. "He takes it very seriously. And yes, he would. He's a good one for parks."
