LOCAL SPORTS ROUNDUP: ACC plays Delta College

ACC LOSES TO DELTA

Alpena Community College women’s basketball lost on Tuesday to Delta College, 72-61.

Allie Urlaub led the team with 14 points. Not far behind was Bryce Roy with 12 points and Emily Jackson with 10.

“I’m proud of this team,” coach Brandon Humphrey said. “We have come so far this year. The resilience they showed throughout the year and the adversity they faced was not for the weak. These ladies proved that tonight as they battled through a strong Delta team and some poor officiating. Even though we lost today, we won deep down! We won by playing together, establishing a great program, and creating lifelong bonds and relationships. Alpena is on the map because of these ladies!”

ACC PUSH PAST DELTA

Alpena Community College men’s basketball pushed past Delta College for the 72-70 win on Tuesday.

Leading the team was Davarion Mitchell with 22 points and seven rebounds and Robert Williams with 13 points.

ALCONA TAKES WIN

Alcona’s boys’ basketball team took home the win against Charlton Heston Academy, 67-47, on Wednesday night.

Leading Alcona was Garrett Somers with 23 points and Collin Walker with 17.

“Huge team win as we kick off the state tournament in Roscommon against Charlton Heston Academy,” coach Alex Cole said. “Garrett Somers and Collin Walker kept attacking their defense and led us in scoring while all 11 guys locked in on the defensive end and really did a nice job executing our game plan.
