Hillman boys basketball defeated Hale 54-44, improving to 18-2 and 10-0 in the North Star League Little Dipper Division.

The win came on Senior Night. Seniors Trenton Taratuta, Blake Kennard, and Gavin Booms ended NSL play continuing some impressive streaks which include 49 straight in the NSL and 32 straight in the Little Dipper division.

With the win, Hillman secured its eighth NSL championship in the last 10 years and its third straight.

Leading scorer was Trenton Taratuta who would also add nine rebounds and five assists. Senior Blake Kennard would chip in with 10 points and 11 rebounds, while Junior guard Cuyler Schultz would have a nice game filling the stat lines with nine points, nine rebounds, and four assists.

Hillman returns to action Tuesday as they travel to Tawas.

“It was nice sending the seniors off with a victory in their final home game!” Coach Eric Muszynski said. “It’s been another great run and winning the eight conference title in 10 years speaks of the consistency we have had as a program. I’m really happy for the guys and the town! I thought Cuyler had a nice game and filled the stat sheet. He hit that big three at the end of the third to give us momentum heading into the fourth quarter.”
