ALPENA — Alpena firefighters quickly extinguished a blaze in an upstairs bedroom of a home on the 300 block of North June Street early this morning.
The Alpena Fire Department was dispatched to the home at 3:21 a.m. and learned enroute that the occupants of the home were evacuating, according to a news release from the Fire Department. Arriving firefighters saw heavy smoke coming from the upstairs of the two-story structure.
Once inside, firefighters found fire in an upstairs bedroom and quickly extinguished the flames and made sure the fire hadn’t spread to other areas of the home.
A cause had not been determined by this morning and the fire remained under investigation.
Firefighters remained on the scene for about 90 minutes. Eight on-duty personnel and seven off-duty personnel responded, according to the news release.
