Early voting for the Feb. 27 presidential primary election begins in Alpena today and ends on Feb. 25, according to a news release from the city.

Polls are open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Alpena City Hall, 208 N. 1st Ave.

All registered voters have the ability to vote early and voters can bring absentee ballots to the early voting site and put them into the tabulator, just like on Election Day.

Voters are advised to keep the stub connected to their ballot. People who would like an absentee ballot can also obtain one at the early voting site.

It is a requirement that every voter who obtains a ballot must show a picture identification or sign an affidavit attesting that he or she is not in possession of picture identification.
