An Alpena County man was arrested during the early morning hours of Sunday and charged with one count Assault With Intent To Do Great Bodily Harm Less Than Murder, Interfering With Electronic Communications Device, and Malicious Destruction of Personal Property $1,000 or More But Less Than $20,000.

In a press release from the Michigan State Police-Alpena Post issued Wednesday, it says the 37-year-old man woke up the female victim and began making accusations against her.

He then took the victim’s telephone, assaulted her, and smashed her computer. The victim received minor injuries and was treated at the scene by Sanborn Township Fire and Rescue. The man was also treated for a laceration to his forearm and medically cleared at MyMichigan Medical Centre Alpena before being lodged in the Alpena County Jail.

The suspect was arraigned in the 88th District Court in Alpena County. His next scheduled court appearance is on Feb. 27 at 2 p.m.
