Alcona bowlers compete in regionals

This past weekend the Alcona bowling team participated in the bowling regionals in Traverse City.

Friday consisted of the team portion. There were 13 teams for the boys and seven teams for the girls. In the team portion, they bowl eight baker games and two individual games.

The boys finished in 10th place with baker game points of 908, and game points of 1192 for a total pin count for the team of 2100.

The girls finished in fourth with baker game points of 1069, and game points of 1118 for a total pin count for the team of 2187.

Saturday consisted of the singles portion, six games each. There were 73 participating in the boys' singles.

In the morning the boys bowled and scored as follows: total pin count and (average) for regionals were: Daniel June 736 (123), Ryan Windsor 693 (116), Jacob June 690 (115), Jaxon Whittaker 661 (110), Ceanna Stern 544 (91).

There were 42 participating in the girls' singles. The girls bowled in the afternoon and scored as follows: total pin count and (average) for regionals were: Makayla Prince 792 (132), Danica Manning 771 (129), Addison Birk 768 (128), Rylee Manning 742 (124), Nyhia Jackson 643 (107).

"Overall the kids did a great job," Coach Tina Stern said. "I'm proud of them and to have them on the team."
