ALPENA -- Alpena Civic Theatre is thrilled to present Agatha Christie's classic play "And Then There Were None," opening on Thursday, March 7.
Directed by Jessica Luther and Lucas Moquin, "And Then There Were None" brings 10 strangers to Soldier Island, invited by a mysterious host. In an unexpected turn of events, each of them is accused of a horrendous crime by a disembodied voice. As members of the party begin dying mysteriously, they realize they are trapped with a murderer on an island with no escape.
Shows will run Thursday through Sunday from March 7 to 17, with evening performances beginning at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. Call 989-354-3624 or visit the Alpena Civic Theatre Box Office, 401 River St., Alpena, to purchase tickets.
Here is a description of the cast and their characters.
Doug Niergarth will play Rogers, the dignified butler.
Dani Ayotte will depict Rogers' wife, Ethel Rogers, a frail woman.
Lucas Moquin will play Fred Narracott, a sailor living in Devon. He makes deliveries to Soldier Island and transports passengers there.
Isabel Luther will portray Vera Claythorne, a former governess who comes to Soldier Island purportedly to serve as a secretary to Mrs. Owen.
Joey Lanier will play Philip Lombard, a mysterious, confident, and resourceful man who seems to have been a mercenary soldier in Africa. Lombard is far bolder and more cunning than most of the other characters.
Moquin will also depict Anthony Marston, a rich, athletic, handsome youth. Tony Marston likes to drive recklessly and seems to lack a conscience.
Alex Czarnecki will play William Blore, a former police inspector. Blore is a well-built man whose experience often inspires others to look to him for advice.
Matt Southwell will portray General Mackenzie, the oldest guest. MacKenzie is accused of sending a lieutenant, Arthur Richmond, to his death during World War I because Richmond was his wife's lover.
Kristin Loughery will play Emily Brent, an old, ruthlessly religious woman who reads her Bible daily. Emily Brent feels convinced of her own righteousness and does not express the slightest remorse for her actions.
Bill Powell will portray Sir Lawrence Wargrave, a recently retired judge. Wargrave is a highly intelligent old man with a commanding personality.
Bri Lubbers will play Dr. Armstrong, a gullible, slightly timid doctor. Armstrong often draws the suspicion of the other guests because of his medical knowledge.
The crew includes Stage Manager Dani Ayotte, Technical Director and Scenic Designer Jason Luther, Producer Carol Rundell, Lighting Designer Jay Kettler, Sound Designer Andrew MacNeill, Light and Sound Operator Jackie Herbert, and Costumers Mary Ann Crawford, Herbert, and Marilyn Kettler.
