Last week, Hillman's boys basketball Senior Guard Trenton Taratura scored 2,000 point in his career. A number few have achieved in the state.
Tuesday night, in the game against Rogers City, Taratuta broke the school record for points in a game, scoring 52.
The previous record was 41 points held by Paul Bennett, which Taratuta tied three times in his career, but now he stands alone.
Taratuta scored 40 points by halftime and would break the school record with 11 three-pointers made in ta game.
On the night, Taratuta shot 11-16 from the three-point line and added nine rebounds, seven steals, and six assists.
The overall victory against Rogers City was a score of 83-47, favoring Hillman.
Guard Brenden Rouleau continued his double-figure scoring with 14 points. Senior big man Blake Kennard scored eight points and blocked five shots, which is good for third all-time blocks in a game.
Rounding out the scoring was sophomore Evan Crane with eight points.
Hillman improves to 12-2 overall.
"(Tuesday night) was one of the most amazing single performances I have witnessed as coach here at Hillman, or anywhere quite frankly," said coach Eric Muszynski. "Trenton (Taratuta) was hitting NBA three-pointers and it didn't look like the net was even moving! I've coached, watched, and played in a lot of High School games and I haven't witnessed a performance like this ever! The crazy part of it all is he got cut in the third quarter and had blood so he had to come out and get cleaned up. Essentially, he scored 52 points in three quarters of play."
The Tigers play Friday at Hale at 6 p.m.
