Hillman defeats Alcona

On Monday, the Alcona boys basketball team lost at home to Hillman, 66-56.

Alcona’s top scorers were Garrett Somers with 12 points, Collin Walker with 11 points, and David Sharboneau with eight points. Jordan Benac and Jacob Renchenski each scored seven points for the Tigers as well.

Alcona plays at St. Ignace tonight at 7:30.

Hillman Community Schools’ team improves to 2-0 on the year, with senior Trent Taratuta just shy of breaking the school’s scoring record.

Senior guard Trent Taratuta led the team on Monday with 33 points, 14 rebounds, and six assists. The 33-point performance sets him one point shy of breaking the school record for career points held by Mason VanPamel.

Sophomore Xavier Nichols and junior Brenden Rouleau each scored an additional nine points, and senior big man Blake Kennard blocked three shots and scored eight points.

Hillman returns to action on Thursday as they face Oscoda at home.
