ALPENA — Alpena County Administrator Mary Catherine Hannah has been offered the job of county administrator for Saginaw County and has accepted it, continuant on contract details being agreed upon.

The Saginaw County Board of Commissioners voted Tuesday 9-2 to offer her the position, MLive reports.

At this point it is unknown when Hannah will begin the new job, as she has a 60 day out in her contract with Alpena County, but the commissioners could shorten that timeframe if they choose to release her from the contract.

Hannah was one of two finalists in the running for the position. Few other details about the job offer or if Hannah will accept it or are known at this time.

A message was left with Hannah seeking comment.

Hannah was hired by Alpena County in the summer of 2021 after Alpena County hired Walsh Municipal Services to seek candidates for the newly created position. Walsh was hired by Saginaw County to find someone to fill its vacancy in the position and approached Hannah.

It is unknown at this time if the commissioners will seek a new administrator.
