The Northern Michigan Public Health Alliance and District Health Department No. 4 are promoting the Great American Smokeout, an American Cancer Society event on Nov. 16 that encourages community members to consider quitting tobacco use.

The Michigan Tobacco Quitlink can offer free counseling for those who qualify to those who call 800-784-8669.
