ALPENA – Alpena County Administrator Mary Catherine Hannah is one of two finalists to become the new county administrator for Saginaw County.

At a meeting Tuesday, that county’s Board of Commissioners whittled the field of candidates from five to two, with Jason Saksewski, director of operations for the Grand Traverse County Road Commission, being the other candidate up for consideration.

The board in Saginaw County is scheduled to meet at 4 p.m. Dec. 12 where they could decide who to offer the position to.

Hannah was hired by Alpena County in the summer of 2021 after Alpena County hired Walsh Municipal Services to seek candidates for the newly created position.

Walsh was also leading the way in recruiting candidates for Saginaw County.

The firm also assisted in the search for a new city manager for Alpena in 2019 when it produced current City Manager Rachel Smolinski.
