LOCAL SPORTS ROUNDUP: Alpena hosts home swim meet
ALPENA — The Alpena girls swim team faced Cadillac on Thursday at home and lost 107-66.
The 200-yard medley relay including Olivia Sherwood, Sarah Rabbideau, Tryst Bukowiecki, and Emilee Modrzewski took second place. Third place included Hannah McConnell, Ava Stevens, Eva Trainer and Kaelyn Roznowski.
In the 200-yard freestyle, Lizzie Rabbideau took third, Hailey Diemond was fourth and Kailyn Roznowski fifth place.
The 200 yard IM included Tryst Bukowiecki taking third, Hannah McConnell fourth and Eva Trainer in fifth place. Lizzie Rabbideau had her personal best 50 yard freestyle earning her first place, following in fourth place was Emilee Modrzewski.
Sarah Rabbideau earned second place in the 100-yard Butterfly. In the 100-yard freestyle, Ava Stevens beat her personal best earning a third place, Tryst Bukowiecki received fourth and Eva Trainer received fifth.
The 200-yard freestyle relay including Kaelyn Roznowski, Emilee Modrzewski, Lizzie Rabbideau and Sarah Rabbideau took second place. Bailee Diemond, Trinity Hosinski, Gabby Tolan and Hailey Diemond earned fourth place.
In the 100-yard backstroke, Emilee Modrzejewski swam her personal best earning second place and Hannah McConnell received fourth place. Sarah Rabbideau swam her personal best in the 100-yard breaststroke earning first place.
In the 400-yard freestyle relay, a second place and personal best was swam by Olivia Sherwood, Lizzie Rabbideau, Hannah McConnell and Tryst Bukowiecki. Third place included Bailee Diemond, Hailey Diemond, Trinity Hosinski and Ava Stevens.
Alpena hosts Ogemaw Heights on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
BOYS SOCCER

GAYLORD — The Alpena High boys soccer team played Gaylord to a 1-1 tie on Thursday in a Big North Conference contest. At press time, no further information was available.
JV FOOTBALL
Alpena 38, Sault Ste. Marie 20
SAULT STE. MARIE — The Alpena JV Football team clawed back into the win column with a 38-20 road victory over Sault Ste. Marie on Thursday.
Thorin Rogers led the way offensively, scoring four rushing touchdowns of 60, 29, 29, and 1 yards behind solid blocking from the offensive line and wide receivers.
Quarterback Eion Eades added a score of his own with a 14-yard touchdown scamper in the first half. Rogers would also score on the defensive side of the ball, stripping a Blue Devil carry and taking it 60 yards for the score.
Eades led the defensive charge with six tackles followed by Brody Oliver with 5.5. Safety Eli Werth added an interception and defensive lineman Henry Wirgau contributed a fumble recovery.
Alpena is 3-4 and hosts Escanaba next week.
VOLLEYBALL
Hillman 3, Posen 0
The Hillman volleyball bounced back from an early deficit on Thursday to beat Posen in four sets, 24-26, 25-8, 25-13 and 25-16 in a North Star League contest.
