ATLANTA -- The Montmorency County Sheriff's Office and the Michigan Department of Agriculture has investigated a farm on Thorton Road near Atlanta after the agencies received accusations of animal abuse and neglect, UpNorthLive reported.
Montmorency County Sheriff Chad Brown said the property has undergone investigation before and cases dating back to 2018 and 2021 were linked to the location.
Christine Thompson, whose address matches the Thorton Road property, pleaded guilty to one count of animals running at large in 2018 and pleaded guilty to four of nine counts of animals running at large in 2021, UpNorthLive reported.
The Montmorency County Sheriff's Office is currently waiting on a report from the Department of Agriculture before taking any further steps in the investigation.
