Alpena reaches contract deal with police
The Alpena Municipal Council on Tuesday approved a contract with the city’s Police Supervisory union.
The council approved a three-year deal that includes a $2-an-hour market adjustment with 3% raise for sergeants and a $4-an-hour market adjustment with 3% raise for lieutenant.
Employees represented by the union will also receive an 80-hour bank for maternity or paternity leave. A separate, 40-hour bank of parental leave can be used for special circumstances but may not be used in conjunction with the maternity or paternity leave. Employees will contribute 6.5% to pension, an increase from 6%.
Negotiations with the Alpena Supervisory Officers Division, affiliated with the Michigan Fraternal Order of Police Labor Council, began earlier this year.
