DHD4 recognizes National Immunization Awareness Month

The Northern Michigan Public Health Alliance and District Health Department No. 4 are promoting National Immunization Awareness Month.

August is National Immunization Awareness Month, which both organizations say is a perfect time to review the status of your child’s vaccine records and get them up to date before school begins.

Routine vaccines and school vaccination requirements protect school communities against vaccine-preventable disease outbreaks, keeping children in school and ready to learn, according to the NMPHA and DHD4.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has an easy-to-follow immunization schedule on their website for those from birth through age 18. The health organizations recommend contacting your healthcare provider or the local health department if you are unsure about which vaccines your child may need.

These clinics are open to students, families, and community members. If you have specific questions about your child’s health, talk with your healthcare provider or call DHD4 at 1-800-221-0294.
