MyMichigan Health will be doing blood pressure and blood sugar screenings, CPR and AED education and awareness, water safety information and distributing free life vests.
The Alpena Fire Department will be doing fire safety programs, and Catholic Human Services will provide Narcon education.
The Alpena Lions Club will host a bike giveaway and children's craft. The Lions will also provide vision screening for babies and children.
Alpena Public Library will be doing a craft and reading program for children from 10 to 11 a.m.
Live music with John LaCross will be presented by Thunder Bay Family Dentistry and Thunder Bay Folk Society.
This is the third year the Alpena Farmers Market has offered Save-A-Life Saturday, according to Alpena Farmers Market President J.B. Cook.
He said it is funded partly by the Youth and Recreation Millage, and MyMichigan Health also helps sponsor it and provide educational information for attendees.
Cook said the family-friendly event is a great way to get out in the community and take care of your health at the same time.
You could even pick up some fresh locally grown vegetables while you're there.
"Produce has been slow coming this year, because of that dry spring, but this rain should be helping things a lot," Cook said. "We're a producer-only local farmers market. It's all local."
He noted that the market is more than just veggies.
"We do have a lot of unique, handmade things down there, and artisans down there," Cook added.
He hopes to see a lot of people at Save-A-Life Saturday. He encourages them to come "learn about getting healthier and to support our community and our health professionals in the area."
