Beginning Sunday morning, the breakwall located on Prentiss Street, enclosing the Alpena Marina, will be closed to all pedestrian traffic, Alpena city officials announced on Friday.

A group from the 128th ACS out of Volk Field, Camp Douglas, Wisconsin have volunteered to undertake the painting of the breakwall railing while they are in Alpena training at the CRTC.

They will also assist in painting fire hydrants throughout the community at the same time.

Upon completion of the work, and the paint drying, it is anticipated the breakwall will be open to the public by late afternoon on Sunday.
