HILLMAN — A 19-year-old from Auburn Hills and a 21-year-old from Pontiac are currently being treated at MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena for serious injuries sustained during a boating incident on Lake Avalon in Hillman.

In a press release, the Montmorency County Sheriff’s Office said that on Sunday they had received multiple 911 calls regarding a boating incident. The two individuals received their injuries while being pulled on a tube behind a boat at the time of the incident.

While the incident is still under investigation, alcohol is suspected to be a factor. A 58-year-old Auburn Hills man was arrested for operating while intoxicated.

The Sheriff’s Office said it has no plans to release additional information about the incident.
