LOCAL SPORTS ROUNDUP: Alcona baseball, softball teams win district championships

LINCOLN — The Alcona baseball team captured a Division 4 district title on Friday on its home field, defeating Charlton Heston 16-1 in three innings and Au Gres, 18-8.

Alcona started strong out of the gate in the first game, scoring 12 runs in the first inning and tacked on four runs in the third inning.

Evan Borsvold got the win for Alcona, allowing a run on one hit with seven strikeouts and three walks.

At the plate, Borsvold, helped his own cause with two hits, including a home run.

Owen Borsvold and Jordan Benac each had two hits and two RBI and Gavin Dellar had three hits and two RBI.

Stats were not immediately available for the second game.

SOFTBALL

Alcona wins D-4 district title

AU GRES — The Alcona softball team poured on the offense en route to a second consecutive district championship on Friday, defeating Au Gres 12-0 (five innings) and Mio, 16-1 (five innings).

Stats were not immediately available for either game.

Hillman drops 2 to Cheboygan

The Hillman softball team dropped a pair of games against Cheboygan on Thursday, 7-3 and 4-3.

In the first game, Nicole Barbeau pitched for Hillman, allowing eight hits and one earned run while striking out nine.

Autumn Lis led Hillman at the plate, going 2-for-3.

In the second game, Gretchen Weiland pitched for Hillman, allowing four hits, no earned runs and striking out six.

At the plate, Hannah Crane and Cassidy Benac each went 2-for-3.
