Alpena native tops Ironman Boulder 70.3

Alpena native Kevin Konczak of Boulder, Colorado, was the top master and winner of the men’s 50-54 age group at the recent Ironman Boulder (Colorado) 70.3 (1.2 mile swim/56 mile bike/13.1 mile run). His time of 4:19:05 was nearly 11 minutes ahead of second place, and was faster than any athlete over 40. Konczak is the 2023 Ironman 70.3 North American Champion, having won the title last month in St. George, Utah. Konczak is undefeated in age group competition this year having won four out of four races.
In May, Konczak became the Ironman 70.3 North American Champion at St. George, Utah, in the men’s 50-54 age group, winning by over five minutes. The race included the top 70.3 (half Ironman distance) athletes in North America. Distances are 1.2 mile swim/56 mile bike/13.1 mile run. Konczak finished in a time of 4:30:24.
