Lincoln students help clean up McRae Park
Courtesy Photo Last week, Lincoln Elementary School fifth graders in Maia Proulx’s class picked up more than 900 pieces of trash — 904 in all — from McRae Park in Alpena. The class teamed up with Northeast Michigan Great Lakes Stewardship Initiative and Great Lakes Great Responsibility to learn about the impact of litter and microplastics. The class is also working on making a bench out of eco bricks and is just a few bricks away from it being complete. The whole school has been working to take styrofoam and single-use plastic from their lunchroom and putting that in the bricks.
