ALPENA — A jury will hear evidence this week in Alpena’s 26th Circuit Court against Robert Hall, who is accused of domestic violence and home invasion among a half dozen charges.

Hall is charged with one count of home invasion, first degree, one count of motor vehicle-unlawful driving away, one count of stalking-aggravated, one count of interfering with electronic communications, one count of domestic violence, and one count of weapons felony firearm.

He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Hall is represented by Dennis Grenkowicz and Julie Miller and the prosecution is being handled by Alpena County Prosecutor Cynthia Muszynski.

The trial started Tuesday morning with a lengthy jury selection followed by a recess.

After the jury returned, Judge Ed Black gave a brief explanation of the structure of the case to the jury and then Muszynski gave her opening argument.

Muszynski’s opening argument on Tuesday consisted of breaking down the individual elements of each count that Hall is charged with.

Once she was finished, Grenkowicz gave his opening argument.

Grenkowicz’s opening argument presented the events that led to the case from Hall’s perspective, claiming that the events didn’t happen the way that the prosecution alleges. Hall alleges that he was invited to the alleged victim’s residence and left after confronting her about not returning his Dodge Charger and her lying about its whereabouts.

After opening arguments, the prosecution called the alleged victim as its first witness.

In her testimony, the alleged victim recounted her relationship with Hall as well as going into detail about his alleged assault on her. The victim alleges that Hall came to her house unannounced and got in an altercation with her that led to him choking her.

The trial resumes today with a cross examination of the alleged victim by the defense.

This story has been updated to reflect that Hall confronted the alleged victim about his Dodge Charger. This is was incorrect in a previous version of the story.
