LOCAL SPORTS ROUNDUP: Alpena boys golf team wins Swan Valley Invite

SAGINAW — The Alpena High boys golf team won the Swan Valley Invite on Monday at Mueller’s Valley View Farm Golf in Saginaw.

Alpena shot a season-low team score of 324 to win and was led by Gavin Hamp, who shot a 78 to finish third. Easton Schultz finished sixth with an 80, and Anden Marceau and Harry Kaszubowski both tied for eighth with a 83. Avery Spicer rounded out Alpena’s scoring with a 95.

Alpena travels to Gaylord Wednesday for the Gaylord Blue Devil Invitational at the Tribute.

SOFTBALL

Posen takes 2 from Hale

The Posen softball team picked up a pair of division wins Monday, beating Hale in a North Star League doubleheader 10-5 and 19-2.

Posen scored in every inning but the last one in the opener and finished with eight hits. Shelby Donajkowski had two hits, two RBI and scored twice for Posen and Faith Cousins had a hit and five RBI.

The Vikings kept the offense up in the second game, scoring three runs in every inning, except the third inning when they scored seven.

Ava Wesner had two doubles among four hits, two RBI and scored five times. Jocelyn Hincka had four hits, seven RBI and scored twice; Halie Konieczny had two hits, four RBI and three runs scored; Madison Kamyszek had two hits, an RBI and three runs scored.

Konieczny got the win, allowing two runs on two hits with six walks and three strikeouts.

BASEBALL

Posen plays Hale

The Posen baseball team took on Hale Monday in a North Star League doubleheader. Hale took the first game 15-7 and Posen held a 19-10 lead in the second game after three innings.

Posen led 4-0 early in the opener, but Hale stormed back with 15 runs over the last three innings.

Lucas Mercier had two hits and two RBI for Posen and Cole Krajniak had two hits and scored twice. Andrew Budnick added a hit and an RBI.

A high-scoring second game started quickly with both teams combining for 11 runs in the first inning. Posen added six runs in the second inning and eight more in the third inning.

Ethan Romel had two hits, three RBI and three runs scored for Posen; Budnick and Jack Romel each had two hits, two RBI and three runs scored.
