The Alpena County Republican Party will on Thursday host Kristina Karamo, chairwoman of the Michigan Republican Party and former Republican candidate for secretary of state.

Doors open at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Alpena County Library, 211 N. 1st Ave. Karamo is scheduled to speak at 6:30 p.m. The free event is open to the public.

Last year, Karamo’s campaign for secretary of state included claims that the 2020 election was stolen from Donald Trump. She lost to Democrat Jocelyn Benson 56% to 42%.

She was elected chair of the party last month, earning public congratulations from Trump on his social media network, Truth Social.
