MUSKEGON -- The Alpena Community College softball team played three tough games over the weekend and earned a high-scoring win over Muskegon Community College.
In its first game Friday, ACC lost 7-6 after Muskegon rallied for two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning. ACC scored four runs in the sixth inning and led 5-2 after six innings before Muskegon. ACC scattered seven hits, including a double from Kyra Lucas, who also had two RBI.
ACC outlasted Muskegon in a slugfest in its second game Friday, winning 22-21. The first inning saw both teams combine for 17 runs and ACC scored at least one run in every inning. ACC finished the game with 24 hits and 17 RBI.
Jade Schultz had a home run among five hits and four RBI; Avery Zipp had a double among four hits and four RBI; Abby Platt had four hits and an RBI; Makayla Kamyszek had a home run among two hits and two RBI; Lizzy Romel, Maddy Wilkinson, Lucas, and Paige Wooden all added two hits.
ACC rounded out the weekend with a 10-3 loss against Muskegon.
ACC plays at Grand Rapids for five total games beginning on Friday.
The ACC baseball team had a tough time against Muskegon, losing 19-0 and 11-2 on Friday.
In the first game, ACC managed just two hits, one each for Matt Thompson and Eric Rogers.
ACC fared a bit better in the second game, managing eight hits despite just two runs.
Spencer Nash and Corey Victor each had a double and two hits and Thompson and Victor each had an RBI. Kaleb Blaskowski added two hits.
On Saturday, ACC lost to Muskegon 12-0 and to Ivy Tech Northeast 15-5. In the first game, Thompson had the only ACC hit. In the second game, ACC scattered six hits, including doubles for Eric Rogers, Nathan Valdiva, and Blaskowski.
ACC plays at Grand Rapids for a total of five games this weekend beginning on Friday.
