Hockey fundraiser at NLA this weekend
The annual Heather Rensberry Memorial Coed Hockey Tournament will take place this weekend, beginning Friday and continuing through Sunday at Northern Lights Arena.
The community is invited to attend this fundraiser event. Admission is free and donations are welcomed. There will be twelve hockey teams participating over the three-day tournament, a variety of raffle prizes, a cash bar and Nowicki’s food truck will be on site.
All money raised at the event will support youth hockey programs, youth goalie clinics, youth equipment and ice time, with the overall goal of promoting hockey to kids.
Heather Rensberry was the winning goalie of the tournament the first year it took place. She played with heart, had zero fear and was the tournament MVP.
After Heather passed away unexpectedly in 2021, this tournament was dedicated to her and her love of the game. When she entered the ice rink, you could tell by her smile that she was exactly where she wanted to be. Heather always encouraged others and her favorite thing was helping new goalies, young and old.
She always said, “I have two families in my life, and my hockey family is one of them!”
“This is something we will continue to do in Heather’s memory. She loved teaching kids and loved playing hockey. It’s something she would be proud of and we miss her greatly!” Tim Nunneley, chairman of the tournament, said.
This event will be a fun weekend of hockey, raising money for a great cause and remembering a good friend.
