ACC takes 2 from Muskegon

MUSKEGON — The Alpena Community College softball team opened conference play on a winning note, sweeping a pair of games against Muskegon on Friday, 4-1 and 11-2.

The wins put ACC (5-4) back above .500 and extended its winning streak to four.

In the opener, ACC scored twice in the fourth inning and added additional runs in the fifth and sixth innings. Muskegon’s only run came in the bottom of the sixth.

Avery Zipp had a double and two RBI for the Lumberjacks; Jade Schultz had two hits; Maddy Wilkinson had a hit and an RBI and Breya Domke and Makayla Kamyszek each had a hit.

Schultz earned the win in the circle, allowing a run on four hits with 11 strikeouts and a walk.

The Lumberjacks pounded out 11 runs on 14 hits in the nightcap and were bolstered by an 8-run fourth inning.

Zipp led ACC with three hits and two RBI; and Kamyszek, Paige Wooden, Schultz, and Olivia Leland each had two hits and an RBI. Wilkinson and Abby Platt each had a hit and an RBI.

Alaina Saari earned the win for ACC, allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits with two strikeouts.

ACC is scheduled to play at Delta for a total of five games this weekend, starting on Friday.
