Alcona County officials: Beware of real estate scam
The Alcona County Register of Deeds is asking homeowners to be aware of the MV Realty’s Homeowner Benefit Program.
The program entices homeowners by offering an up front cash in exchange for signing an agreement, the county said in a recent press release. This agreement gives MV Realty exclusive authorization to act as a selling agent for any sale of property during the terms of the agreement, which can be for a period of 40 years.
The county said homeowners should use caution when entering into a contract affecting property, as this can potentially place a lien against the property and bind future successors of interest. Homeowners may consider contacting an attorney or real estate professional before entering into a contract.
