ALPENA — Firefighters from the Alpena Fire Department quickly extinguished a small garage fire at about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The fire took place at a home near the intersection of 3rd Avenue and Addison Street and nobody was injured in the blaze.

A portion of 3rd Avenue was closed for about a half-hour and traffic was diverted down side streets.

The Fire Department was assisted at the scene by the Alpena Police Department and the Alpena County Sheriff’s Department.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
