ALPENA -- In its eighth year of hosting Giving Tuesday Northeast Michigan for local nonprofits, the Community Foundation for Northeast Michigan helped raise a grand total of $314,834 for the 62 participating nonprofits.
"We know that the many community members following this giving campaign are anxious to know totals, and we are happy to be able to announce this incredible number for the 2022 Giving Tuesday event," said Patrick Heraghty, CFNEM executive director. "Raising that kind of money over a 24-hour period is a testament to the extreme generosity of our communities."
While the Community Foundation is able to announce an overall total for the 2022 Giving Tuesday Northeast Michigan campaign, Heraghty says the announcement of totals raised for each organization, as well as news of which organization will take home the Giving Tuesday Golden Goose, are not ready quite yet. Those amounts will be announced at a live, online event at 1 p.m. Tuesday on CFNEM's Facebook page.
"We had a record-breaking number of donations this year for Giving Tuesday, and our small but mighty staff is working diligently to finalize all the totals," said Heraghty. "We know our participants are awaiting this information patiently, and we look forward to sharing those individual organization totals next week."
The Community Foundation for Northeast Michigan has led the Giving Tuesday movement locally since 2015. Since then, Giving Tuesday Northeast Michigan has raised more than $1.48 million for local nonprofits.
