Alpena woman Cindy Straley will once again represent the region and her profession after Gov. Gretchen Whitmer announced Straley's reappointment to the Michigan Board of Cosmetology on Thursday.
Straley has served on the board for four years, as vice chair and, currently, chair. Whitmer's reappointment enables Straley to continue representing licensed cosmetologists on the board for a term beginning Jan. 1 and ending Dec. 31, 2026.
Mrs Straley said she finds the position rewarding and important to the profession and is pleased to continue serving in this role.
The Michigan Board of Cosmetology was created to license and regulate the practice of cosmetology in Michigan.
The members of the cosmetology industry licensed by the state include public and private schools of cosmetology, beauty shops, cosmetologists, manicurists, cosmetology instructors, electrologists, estheticians, and natural hair culturists.
