The Wildcats kicked off the 2022-23 season Friday at home and topped Hancock 5-3.
Alpena got things off to quick start after Anden Marceau scored just 22 seconds into the game. Both teams played to a 2-2 tie after one period and were scoreless in the second period.
Alpena briefly fell behind 3-2 in the third period, but responded with a pair of power-play goals from Harrison Kaszubowski and an empty-netter from Marceau to win. A story from Friday’s game will run in a future edition of The News.
