ALPENA — Alpena Public Schools will celebrate new renovations to Hinks Elementary School with a ribbon cutting today at 5:15 p.m. at the school.

The public is invited to the ceremony, which will immediately precede the regular APS Board meeting, to be held in the school gym.

The Safe, Warm and Dry Bond approved by voters in March of 2020 provided for recent upgrades at the school, including a secure entry, new roof, plumbing and bathroom updates, new sidewalks, paved parking lot with a new entrance for better traffic flow, and a new boiler with upgraded controls which allow the building to operate more efficiently and cost-effectively.
