ALPENA — Carlos Vivero is in the Christmas spirit, and he wants to share it with everyone.

The front man of Katharsys Theory has recorded a new Christmas song, and all proceeds from sales will be donated to Second Chance Animal Shelter in Alpena Township.

This is his first solo single.

“It’s a cover of the song ‘Please Come Home for Christmas,'” Vivero said. “It was originally written and performed by Charles Brown.”

He chose Second Chance Animal Shelter because he loves animals and supports the shelter’s mission. He has seven dogs and one cat.

“All of the proceeds, and that is, proceeds that come from the individual streams of the song, as well as purchase downloads, are going to go to Second Chance Animal Shelter,” Vivero said.

He explained why he decided to record the song.

“I’ve been wanting to do a Christmas song for many years,” Vivero said. “I teamed up with my good friend Charlie (Oncina) at Lachine Machine Studios, he opened his studio up for me, and he was all about the project, so we got it done. I got the whole song recorded and completed in about five hours. The whole production, altogether, took about eight hours to complete, which is really cool.”

He not only sings, but plays every instrument you’ll hear on the record.

“I played lead guitar, rhythm guitar, drums, bass,” he said. “I even played the tambourine, and obviously, I did the vocals, too.”

He had a blast recording the song, and he’s excited to share it with the world.

“It’s the holiday season, and I wanted to do something nice,” Vivero said. “What better way to give back to the community? It’s a nonprofit organization that I really believe in.”

His rendition of “Please Come Home for Christmas” will be released on Friday, and available on all major streaming platforms, such as Spotify, iTunes, and Apple Music.

A music video will be released about a week after the song comes out.

“This is going to be the first of many solo releases that I’m going to start doing, in addition to my band, Katharsys Theory,” Vivero added. “I’m already getting a lot of traction and positive feedback, so this has totally encouraged me to produce and release a lot more single stuff.”
