Monkeypox vaccination available

District Health Department No. 4 is available to provide vaccinations and additional education services for residents and providers concerned about monkeypox.

If you think you have monkeypox or have had close personal contact with someone who has monkeypox, visit a healthcare provider to help decide if you need to be tested or would benefit from vaccination.

Currently, testing is only recommended if you have a rash consistent with monkeypox.

If you were exposed to monkeypox through sexual contact, you should also be tested for HIV and other sexually transmitted infections. DHD4 offers free rapid testing for HIV. Call 1-800-221-0294 to make an appointment.

There are no treatments specifically for monkeypox. But because the viruses that cause monkeypox and smallpox are similar, antiviral drugs developed to protect against smallpox may be used to treat monkeypox effectively.

If you are at-risk, HIV positive, or immunocompromised, it is recommended for you to get the Jynneos Monkeypox Vaccine. Call 1-800-221-0294 to schedule an appointment.
