Local air service closes; no impact to passengers expected

1 min read

Customers will notice no change related to the closure of Great Lakes Air, a flying service that has provided charter service out of the Alpena County Regional Airport, its owner reports.

All local Great Lakes Air charters will be handled by North County Aviation, with passengers only impacted by a new name on airport signs, said Robert Currier, of Alpena, who owns both airlines.

Currier decided to sell the Great Lakes Air assets because that company was no longer financially viable, he said.
