ALPENA -- One more hearing should do it for Bruce Kinsey, charged with lying to the Michigan Attorney General's Office during a homicide investigation.
Attorneys previously said they expected a plea deal this month related to accusations Kinsey lied when investigators questioned him regarding the deaths of Alpena teen Brynn Bills and Alpena woman Abby Hill.
Bills and Hill died under suspicious circumstances last year.
No charges have been filed related to their deaths.
On Monday in Alpena's 26th Circuit Court, defense attorney Bill Pfeifer and Assistant Attorney General Gage Wakula said they need a few more weeks to iron out details about Kinsey's expected plea agreement.
They plan to place that agreement on the record during an Oct. 17 court hearing.
The Attorney General's Office, which has participated to an unstated extent in the local investigation into Bills' and Hill's deaths, believes Kinsey lied about the location where he picked up two men law enforcement have named as suspects in the deaths.
