ALPENA -- Voting is underway now in The Alpena News' annual Sunrise Side's Best of the Best contest.
Through the contest, residents can show their support for their favorite local businesses by casting their ballots in several categories, from best art gallery to best hardware store and beyond.
Voting continues through Oct. 9 at TheAlpenaNews.com/Best.
"Best of the Best is a great way for Northeast Michiganders to show their love to their favorite local businesses," said News Publisher/Editor Justin Hinkley. "Those businesses do great work all year round and show their support for their customers. The contest is a way for residents to show that support back."
Hundreds of local businesses and organizations were nominated by readers to be part of the contest.
During open voting, anyone can vote once per day in any or all categories.
The top vote-getter in each category will be crowned the winner later this year. Those with the second- and third-most votes will be announced as finalists.
"Residents get really excited about this contest," Hinkley said. "Businesses get really excited about this contest. We here at The News get really excited. We're thrilled to bring this to Northeast Michigan year in and year out, and we encourage everyone to go in and show their businesses some love by voting."
