ATLANTA — Police believe several juveniles stole guns and other property during a recent rash of break-ins in Montmorency County.

The Montmorency County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday searched a Montmorency County home and recovered a large amount of stolen property after an investigation into the thefts of ammunition, hunting equipment, dirt bikes, side-by-sides, four-wheelers, and other property in recent months.

Items were stolen from more than 20 different locations, according to police.

Information from residents helped police find the stolen goods, Montmorency County Sheriff Chad Brown said.

Police established several suspects in the thefts, including several juveniles, according to the Montmorency County Sheriff’s Office.

Police would not clarify if they arrested anyone related to the thefts.

Michigan Department of Natural Resources conservation officers and the Otsego and Oscoda sheriff’s offices assisted with the investigation.

Those with additional information can contact Detective/Lt. Dan Oelfke at the Montmorency County Sheriff’s Office at 989-785-4238, ext. 374.
