Residents can bid on surplus state-managed land in Alpena and Alcona counties during a Sept. 6 online auction, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources announced on Thursday.

The department will post 188 properties for sale in various Michigan counties in August and September. Some parcels include lake or river frontage or forested acreage surrounded by privately owned land, the DNR said.

Interested buyers can pre-register and get more information about the auctions at Tax-Sale.info and visit Michigan.gov/LandForSale for information about locations and minimum bids.
