ALPENA — Residents curious about a career in teaching can learn about non-traditional routes to teacher certification at a July 27 presentation by local school officials.

Justin Gluesing, Alpena-Montmorency-Alcona Educational Service District superintendent, will share information about steps people with bachelor degrees can take to expedite completion of a teaching certificate while teaching under an interim certificate.

The training, to be held at 6 p.m. at the AMA ESD office in Alpena, will last no more than one hour, district officials promised.

An earlier session will instruct current teachers on adding endorsements to an existing certificate.
